ABOUT THE CLUB 

Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities with over 5000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The club plays in the pre-professional USL W League, starring and featuring the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and across the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

The Vice President of Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing Aurora FC’s brand, marketing, communications, and community engagement strategy. Working closely with the President, this role builds an integrated marketing vision that grows the fan base, deepens community and sponsor relationships, and advances Aurora’s mission and revenue goals. The Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations will lead a multi-faceted small team spanning full-time staff, contractors, freelancers, and game day personnel, and serves as a primary public-facing representative of the organization.

This is a full-time, year-round role. The office is located in Eagan, MN, and training and home games are at TCO Stadium. 

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and execute an integrated annual marketing strategy and brand narrative in collaboration with the President and other Aurora staff, aligning campaigns with organizational goals and key initiatives.
  • Design and execute end-to-end marketing strategies that drive revenue in areas of ticket sales, merchandise, and other channels. 
  • Provide both strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of all marketing, communications, fan engagement, social media, and game presentation operations, ensuring alignment with Aurora’s mission and brand identity.
  • Champion and enforce consistent application of the Minnesota Aurora brand across all platforms, touchpoints, and materials to strengthen recognition and loyalty.
  • Conduct market research and leverage demographic insights to inform strategy, segment audiences, and tailor marketing, communications, and fan engagement initiatives for maximum impact.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage an efficient and effective multi-faceted team, including full-time staff, contractors, freelancers, and game day personnel, fostering a high-performance culture that delivers innovative and impactful work.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise staff to achieve professional growth and deliverables at the highest standard within budget.
  • Assist in managing volunteers and interns.
  • Partner cross-functionally with colleagues and departments to drive integrated campaigns, collaborative initiatives, and a unified organizational voice.

Social Media, Communications & Media Relations

  • Direct the strategy and content approach for Aurora’s social media platforms, ensuring consistent voice, timely engagement, and brand-forward storytelling.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including media, broadcast partners, and community organizations, representing Aurora with professionalism and impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the media, securing positive coverage and elevating Aurora’s presence in local and national conversations.
  • Maintain and manage Aurora newsletters. 

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Manage Rory, Aurora’s mascot, for scheduling, hiring performers, creating a budget and maintaining the costume. 
  • Seek out and engage community partners aligned with Aurora FC’s mission, values, and overall revenue goals.
  • As directed, represent Aurora FC at events, public meetings, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and community connections.
  • Work with staff to ensure community engagement for game days, theme nights and other game related content.
  • Manage and track community donations, within budget.

Game Day & Event Leadership

  • Act as the senior marketing and communications representative at all home games and key events, providing leadership, troubleshooting, and ensuring flawless execution.

Budget, Tools & Operations

  • Oversee and optimize marketing and communications budgets, ensuring disciplined financial management while maximizing return on investment across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Utilize HubSpot to manage communication workflows, automate processes, and track stakeholder engagement metrics.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all community partner engagement initiatives, including event outcomes, owner relations, donations, and volunteer activities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to the President, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations to enhance sponsor and community involvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong financial and business acumen required
  • Experience in live events or sports required 
  • Prior responsibility for driving ticket sales and marketing strategy
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing effective teams
  • Accountable for outcomes – work with a high degree of accountability and expect the same from others.
  • Proven sound decision-making ability in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working with media and public speaking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships
    between staff and external partners.
  • Proactive and strategic mindset.
  • Successful completion of Safe Sport & Background check
  • Ability to roll up their sleeves and join in where needed.
