ABOUT THE CLUB
Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities with over 5000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The club has two teams and plays in the pre-professional USL W League and UPSL Women’s League, starring and featuring the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and across the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

The position reports to the Interim President / CEO. Aurora’s Headquarters are in Eagan, MN. The Chief of Staff for Aurora will act as the Interim President’s “right hand” by coordinating communication across the organization, prioritizing and tracking projects and tasks, acting as a sounding board for ideas, overseeing key projects, and being responsible for overall alignment and execution of the organization. The Chief of Staff will essentially serve as a trusted advisor and operational manager for Aurora, ensuring smooth execution of our priorities and initiatives.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Facilitate efficient growth, communicate effectively, implement process & systems
- Acting as a liaison between the Interim President and others inside and outside the organization. Support the Operations Subcommittee of the Board on key projects within the organization
- Work with Aurora team to ensure board approved budget is met – keeping spend at or below budget and revenue at or above approved budget.
- Develop repeatable process for onboarding new employees ensuring knowledge of Aurora values and employee handbook
- Create reports for board meetings including regular financial reports and overall updates from the organization to the board.
- Develop repeatable process to manage Aurora technology including email, equipment, drives and document organization
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Interim President when necessary and communicate decisions back to the team.
- Supervise department heads and understand what is happening with every aspect of the organization.
- Create systems to ensure clear lines of communication and coordination between departments.
- Help build and support the internal team
- Thorough understanding of Aurora’s values and ability to apply them to all decisions
- Oversee creation of job descriptions, performance tracking and be responsible for the hiring process & needs utilizing various stakeholders when needed
- Manage onboarding program for all new employees ensuring knowledge transfer of Aurora values and expectations
- Oversee benefits offered to employees & conduct annual review of benefits
- Manage new employee technology onboarding including email, software needs, equipment, drives and document organization
- Annual job reviews and recommendations to board for compensation and staffing changes
- Responsible for creating safe and confidential reporting systems for staff, volunteers, coaches, fans and players in the event of an incident that violates Aurora’s handbook.
- Work all Aurora home games in person and be available for all Aurora away games as well as Aurora 2.
- Identifying and mitigate potential issues and risks:
- Monitoring the business landscape and alerting the Interim President to potential challenges.
- Ensure all contracts are reviewed by legal, properly executed and organized.
- Ensure Aurora’s social media policies are reviewed and executed by all members of the organization
- Provide support and work collaboratively to allocate resources as appropriate among departments.
- Ensure proper systems, processes and individuals are in place to ensure Player Safety
- Developing and maintaining relationships:
- Building strong connections with key internal and external stakeholders
- Must attend all Aurora home games and select Aurora 2 games.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization when appropriate
- Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner during all games and events
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong financial and business acumen required
- Exposure to HR and Legal roles preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the proven experience in managing multiple projects at a time.
- Accountable for outcomes – work with a high degree of accountability and expect the same from others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships between staff and external partners
- Proactive mindset and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with board members, volunteers, and other team departments.
- Successful completion of Safe Sport & Background check
- Ability to roll up their sleeves & join in where needed.
