Aurora Sets Ticket Sales Record and Secures Spot in Playoffs

Uncategorized

Eagan, MN –   Minnesota Aurora announced today a new league record for attendance ahead of Saturday’s home game vs. Chicago City. Based on demand for tickets, Aurora expanded maximum capacity at TCO Stadium to 6987 seats and they have all sold, setting a new USL W record and the record for a non-Vikings event at Viking Lakes.

“The demand for women’s soccer is clear in Minnesota,” said Andrea Yoch, co-founder and Board Chair of Minnesota Aurora. “Every time we have added seats, the fans have responded and supported the team. It’s incredible and the entire organization is grateful.” This is the third sell out this season.

Minnesota Aurora clinched a spot in the playoffs for the second straight year winning the Heartland Division on Saturday night with a victory over Bavarian United. The July 1st game at TCO Stadium is the last regular season match for the team before the playoffs and will serve as a Black Lives Matter: Amplifying Black Voices game. The club will celebrate the uniqueness of the black community and experience with several activities throughout the night.

“Minnesota Aurora fans continue to show up to support this team and the soccer culture we are building and it’s truly inspiring,” said Jessica Poole, Team President and Chief Operating Officer. “To have this level of support on a night that honors and celebrates the black community truly showcases how the ‘Beautiful Game’ can build and create community.”

PLAYOFF UPDATE

Aurora will travel to Flint, Michigan for the Central Conference semifinal on July 6. Time and opponent to be determined. If Aurora wins, they will play in the Central Conference final on July 8 in Flint at 2 p.m. CST. All games will be played at Kettering’s Atwood Stadium.
