USL W League Announced New Division Alignments for the 2023 Season

The USL W League announced new division alignments for the upcoming season with the addition of 22 teams to the league, which expands the one year old league from 44 teams in 2022 to 66 teams in 2023.  Minnesota Aurora FC returns to the Heartland Division along with the Green Bay Glory, Chicago City SC and the Chicago Dutch Lions. Joining the division this season are RKC Soccer Club in Kenosha, WI, Rochester FC in Rochester, MN, and Bavarian United in Milwaukee, WI.

Last season Minnesota Aurora FC’s top rival was the Green Bay Glory (6-3-3) who gave Aurora their only tie of 2022. On the road in Green Bay, the team notched two records with Addison Symonds delivering the fastest franchise goal one minute into the match and Morgan Turner with the franchise’s first hat trick. 

In the middle of the season, Minnesota Aurora FC faced Chicago City SC (6-5-1) three contests in a row and won all three. They met the Chicago Dutch Lions (3-8-0) two times in 2022 and won those as well.

As for new teams in the Heartland Division, Aurora will be seeing more of Wisconsin with the addition of Bavarian United and RKC Soccer Club. This will be RKC Soccer Club’s first season in competition. Located in Racine, WI, RKC Soccer Club will be adding teams to the USL W and USL League Two. Bavarian United was founded in 1929 and has a long history in American amateur soccer, this will be their first season in the USL W League. It introduced a women’s pathway program in 2011, and merged with nearby Inter Northshore FC a decade later to form Bavarian United Soccer Club.

Minnesota just got a whole team nicer! Staying close to home with Rochester FC, they become the League’s second team in the state. Founded by Midhat Mujic and Muharem Dedic in 2018, Rochester celebrates diversity, as well as paying special attention to offering low-cost opportunities for families of immigrant and marginalized communities. Rochester FC’s mission is to build a competitive and diverse soccer club in Southern Minnesota.
