Eagan, MN –   Minnesota Aurora defender Abby Ostrem has signed her first pro contract with ŽFK Spartak Subotica in Subotica, Serbia joining teammate Makenzie Langdok.  The team has won ten national championships, including nine in a row from 2011 to 2019. It also has appeared in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Ostrem is an inaugural member of Minnesota Aurora joining the team in 2021 playing in 27 games and starting every game in 2023 helping Aurora to back to back Heartland Division Champions and the Central Conference championship in 2023.

Ostrem is from Wylie, Texas and attended the University of South Dakota where she played 5 seasons with 6957 career minutes in 87 games.

“I’m so excited to be taking this first step in my professional journey,” said Ostrem. “A journey that wouldn’t be possible without the opportunity that Aurora provided me. I’ve grown tremendously as a player in my two seasons with Aurora which is a testament to the guidance of the coaches, competition from my teammates, and support from this community.”

“Abby is living proof that hard work pays off. In 2022 she earned our last roster spot during a pre season tryout,” said Aurora Head Coach and Sporting Director Nicole Lukic.  “In 2023 she was a consistent starter because of the hard work she put into her game during the off season. Words cannot express how excited I am for her to start her professional career. “
