Minnesota Aurora FC named 2025 USL W League Organization of the Year
Minnesota Aurora FC has been named the 2025 USL W League Organization of the Year, it was announced today, as voted on by members of the league. It is the second time the club has received this honor, Aurora were recipients of this award in 2022.
“We’re incredibly honored to be named the USL W League Organization of the Year,” said Saara Hassoun, Chief of Staff. “This recognition reflects the passion, dedication, and joy our players, staff and community bring to the club every single day. We’re proud of everything the team accomplished — from the success we achieved on the field to the meaningful impact we continue to make off it.”
Aurora continued its on-field success, advancing to the semifinal round of the USL W League playoffs, hosting a playoff game for the first time since the club’s inaugural season. The club earned its fourth consecutive Heartland Division title, posting a 10-0-2 record during the regular season, while extending its regular-season unbeaten streak to 48 games and winning its second Central Conference Championship.
Charley Boone was named USL W League Defender of the Year, Heartland Division Player of the Year and All-League First Team, while midfielder Cat Rapp was named All-League Second Team at the conclusion of the season. The club also continued its successful record of developing on-field talent, with Boone and Annie Williams signing professional contracts in the Gainbridge Super League, a Division One professional women’s soccer league operated by the USL, and Nadia Cooper signing a short-term contract in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with the Houston Dash.
The club also continued to show its commitment to making an impact in the community, putting the focus on mental health during the 2025 season. In partnership with NAMI Minnesota and WeAre8, Aurora players wore warm-up shirts highlighting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and launched the Goals for Good campaign that saw $100 donated for every goal scored during the regular season to NAMI Minnesota. A total of $5,800 was raised and donated, which included $2,900 for the 29 goals scored in addition to a matching donation by an anonymous community owner.
In September, Aurora teamed up with local Minnesota sports teams to auction off their one-of-a-kind warm up jerseys signed by Minnesota athletes and teams, helping to raise awareness for the 988 Lifeline. All the proceeds from the auction were donated directly to NAMI Minnesota and its mission to provide education, support and advocacy for those living with mental health, raising over $13,000.
